PERSONAL NARRATIVE- LOST WALLET

A wallet, or purse for some, is a precious item in which most people carry things more essential

than money towards everyday life. If some people were to lose that portable safe, they may be offset for the rest of that day. The person without that wallet could be cranky or depressed for a while. Maybe something of great sentimental value was in that wallet. This person could stay hold these feelings for a long time, until they find their belongings by which case they are filled with joy. I, personally, keep anything I may have interest in knowing where it is, in my wallet. I am very good about always having my wallet and never losing it until recently.

In my wallet, I store dire personal items such as my license and some pictures. Among other things, I have my money, like everybody else, and certificates for stores. This summer, I went to the Keys with my family. I drove down there with my wallet and took it everywhere with me, like I would any other time. Well, when someone doesn't have pockets, then it is hard to keep their wallet right next to them at all times. I was carrying my wallet out from the hotel, along with my keys, and set both on top of the car. When I figured out that I needed the keys in order to get in the car and turn it on, I took them off the top of the roof, leaving my wallet behind. I sat in the car, car door open, waiting for my dad to make it to the car so we could all go to a diving area.

Once he made it to the car, without thinking, I closed the door and started the car. I had been driving about half a mile before I realized that my wallet was no longer on my body. Immediately, I pulled the car over, and the next hour or so was spent looking for my wallet. All I could think about was what I would lose if I didn't find my wallet. The week before was my birthday, and I was given RM60 to Best Buy and RM50 to Auto Zone. Aside from that I had RM3 in cash. While walking up and down the road that my wallet flew off on, my sister found my two Best Buy cards. That eased my mind a little. However, that was all we found of my dear wallet. My family and I gave up after wasting an hour of finding nothing. Losing my wallet made me depressed for the rest of the day. I could not believe I did something so stupid.

The next day, I received a call from my grandmother. She was contacted by the police officer of Police Department of Taman Alma, Bukit Mertajam, where I was during this fiasco. When she answered the phone, the police said "This is Deputy 'so-and-so' from the Police Department of Taman Alma, Bukit Mertajam. Do you know Kevindran ?" This startled my grandmother. The police officer then continued to explain to her that he had found my wallet, some two miles from the hotel in which I was staying. He left her information on how to contact him if she wished to retrieve my wallet. My grandmother called me and relayed that information. I got with the sheriff and recovered my wallet. That made my day, knowing that everything I had lost in my wallet was now returned to me, except for my three ringgit in cash, which didn't really matter to me at that time.

Since that single event, I have lost my wallet two other times, none as serious as before. I have also lost something sincere to me by putting it on top of the car. However, I was fortunate enough to get it back. The carelessness of my misplacing have taught me a lesson, simply think before I act. This is something everyone is taught numerous times. Only now, it is easier for me to apply that to my actions. If I follow that idea, I could avoid future problems like this, preventive caution. It took a scare like this for it to finally kick in to me.

Many languages are disappearing every year. Is this a bad thing, or could having fewer languages help bring people together?

It is better to have fewer languages since many languages are disappearing day by day. Language is an important method of transmitting knowledge. It is the primary mode of communication, which is used in order to give or receive knowledge. For the purpose of this essay, language will be defined as an agreed method of communication that is either spoken or written, or intentionally transmitted through body language. The statement means that perception, emotion and reason cannot function independently from language. Language plays an integral role in their ability to function. The statement suggests that without language, we would not be able to become aware of something using the senses, we would not be able to experience and express emotion, and we would not be able to reason.

In today’s global market there is big need to learn more than one language. Either you own a business or you do a job for someone, we still have to communicate with customer or client who may not our language. Thus, the world appears to be moving towards a smaller number of languages such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Hindi, each with millions or billions of speakers. Unfortunately this means that smaller languages are in danger of disappearing. Some people fear the loss of culture and identity, while others believe a world with easier communication would be a better place. In this essay, I will discuss the dangers of both outcomes.

We are indeed losing a lot of languages. First of all, the way that people think is to a certain degree rooted in their first languages. A community’s language is bound up with its way of life, culture, religious beliefs and identity. A second point is the loss of diversity different languages can contribute to different ways of looking at and solving human problems. Thirdly, fewer languages does not necessarily mean better communication because it could even mean a dangerous situation with billions of people fighting against each other, rather than smaller groups as in the past. This could be the most important drawback as more people speak one language, it becomes easier for billions to be influenced by shallow media or aggressive politicians.

However, there might be a lot to be gained from having fewer languages and greater communication. First of all is today’s practical problem of translation business is more difficult, travel is more complicated, and misunderstandings arise. Another current problem is marginalization communities who do not speak a major world language fall behind in science and technology and their economies suffer. Third, having fewer languages might mean more shared ideas. Global collaboration could happen instantly rather than taking years. And finally, although some people are afraid of the loss of culture or identity, it seems that good ideas can survive. We don’t speak Latin or classical Greek anymore, but the ideas and values of the people who spoke those languages are still with us.

In conclusion, it seems inevitable that some languages will disappear like animals or plants, they need a specific habitat and can be squeezed out by stronger competitors. The answer is not to hide and isolate ourselves but to be confident about our identity in whatever language we speak.

Bazaar ramadhan

Hi all.

As we all know, Ramadhan is very well-known with is variety of bazaars. The most common bazaar is food bazaar. All kinds of food sell during this fasting month with a variable of prices. Some stalls sell their food expensively and some don't. However, not all of it are tasty. We are lucky if we buy food with low prices but high in quality. Other than that, these foods are from variety of places. Some are from west, south and east of peninsular Malaysia, but few from Sabah and Sarawak. This is one of the advantages of the bazaar, which is we can choose what we want to eat and we have a lot choices.

Global Warming

Global warming is the continuing rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Global warming is caused by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, resulting from human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels. This finding is recognized by the national science academies of all the major industrialized countries and is not disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing.
Extreme weather events including heatwaves, droughts and heavy rainfall events, species extinctions. Warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe, though the nature of these regional changes is uncertain. Hence, the ecosystem services upon which human livelihoods depend would not be preserved.
The greenhouse effect is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by gases in the atmosphere warm a planet's lower atmosphere and surface. Human activity since the Industrial Revolution has increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It is expected that most ecosystems will be affected by higher atmospheric CO2 levels, combined with higher global temperatures. Overall, it is expected that climate change will result in the extinction of many species and reduced diversity of ecosystems.

Qualities of A Friend

What qualities do you look for when choosing a friend? There are many different qualities that describe a good friend. Everybody has different ideas on what they want and need in a friend. When I choose my friends I would like them to be honest, trustworthy, and dependable.
Honesty, to me is the most important quality to look for in a friend because if you have honesty it will bring many other great qualities along with it. Honesty is the foundation of a good friendship. Without honesty the friendship would fall apart. I once had a friend that constantly lied about everything, he would lie about things he said he had or things he did, it got to the point where he lied so much that I couldn't trust him anymore. Which brings to the next quality I look for in a friend, trust.
Trust, is another very important quality that I look for in a friend. Trust is important because in a friendship you should be able to trust one other, weather it comes to keeping secrets or promises. When you have a problem you need to talk about with your friend, you should be able to trust them not to go around talking about you. You should be able to trust your friends not to make false judgments about you because of how you look or dress. You should be able to depend on your friends to be your friend because of the kind of person you are.
Finally, dependability is the last quality I look for in a friend. This quality sums up the other two qualities I look for in a friend, honesty and trust. If you have honesty and trust then you get dependability along with them. Take honesty, if your friends are honest then you can depend on them to tell the truth about things you ask them or they will be honest with you and come to you when they have problems. Then take trust; if your friends are trustworthy then you can depend on them to not talking about you behind your back. Dependability is also important because you should be able to depend on your friends be around when you have problems and need to talk to someone.
In conclusion, the qualities I look for in a friend are honesty, trust and dependability. I think these qualities are important because, to me they are the foundation of every great friendship. I like to think that I am a perfect friend but, you are not going to find friends that are completely perfect. Friends might lie and hurt you at times but they make up if they are true friends. Everyone has a flaw but, if they try to stay honesty and loyal to you then that us close enough.

Love

What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies.
Love is a beautiful feeling that express honesty, affection and at the same time friendship. The feeling love could be the key of solution for many problems. Love is a universal feeling or emotion and every human on this earth loves someone. It is not necessary that love exists only between opposite sexes but love is there between human kind, between brothers, between sisters, between brothers and sisters, between parents and children, between husband and wife, between neighbours, between nations, between all relations and love also exists between humans and other living beings such as animals. Therefore, nobody can deny the existence of love in this world.
There are so many levels to love; these are the ones we see most in life. Friendship starts this list off as we do feel love towards our friends, this is what helps us get along so well, and why we miss them when we don't see our friends for a long time. It's also why we hold certain friends over others no matter what happens.
Another level of love, are for our siblings and other family members. Even though we do things to our family members, and sometimes we don't like some of our family, that bond is still there. It's this family bond level of love that brought about the phrase, blood is thicker than water. Many wars have been started because of this family level, brother avenging brother or father, father protecting his wife and children, or even vice versa. This simple family bond can even extend to include our pets, amazingly enough, and that is a good thing. A third level to love is the bond that brings man and woman together. This level is among the strongest of them all. It is this level of love that has brought together kingdoms into nations in the past, and ended many great wars. It's is also for the love of a woman that has started a few of our well-known wars, like the Trojan Wars of ancient times. It's brought together families that have argued for years and years, such as in the Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even though the two mentioned killed themselves in the end, it still brought their families together. The last mentionable level of love is that bond between a mother and her children. There is no stronger, nor will there ever be. This bond starts from the very first tiny fluttering of movement and never ends, even after death of the child. A mother protects her children in the name of love, and directs them through life using it as the example to follow. Well, at least it should be. It's because of her children a mother will work at a job she hates, just to make sure they have everything they could ever want or need. In conclusion, love is answer for most of the world question. It is a necessary feeling in life because it is wonderful and magic. Also, it holds people together in way to help and care about each other’s. There is so much to love, that it will be hard to put into this simple essay. It can tear people apart and make us do irrational things to bringing together entire nations. What can this emotion not do? It's hard to tell, but there is a lot it can. This emotion, bring tears to our eyes when something happens to our family members, friends, and pets. When we feel love ripped from us, as in death or being spurned by another, we do things we wouldn't normally do, such as go on violent rampages, or mourn to the extent that our loved ones have to watch us constantly to make sure we don't try anything like suicide. Some can move on, always remembering the lost loved one after a while, but others cannot let go. These are the ones that need our love and support the most.
