PERSONAL NARRATIVE- LOST WALLET

A wallet, or purse for some, is a precious item in which most people carry things more essential

than money towards everyday life. If some people were to lose that portable safe, they may be offset for the rest of that day. The person without that wallet could be cranky or depressed for a while. Maybe something of great sentimental value was in that wallet. This person could stay hold these feelings for a long time, until they find their belongings by which case they are filled with joy. I, personally, keep anything I may have interest in knowing where it is, in my wallet. I am very good about always having my wallet and never losing it until recently.

In my wallet, I store dire personal items such as my license and some pictures. Among other things, I have my money, like everybody else, and certificates for stores. This summer, I went to the Keys with my family. I drove down there with my wallet and took it everywhere with me, like I would any other time. Well, when someone doesn't have pockets, then it is hard to keep their wallet right next to them at all times. I was carrying my wallet out from the hotel, along with my keys, and set both on top of the car. When I figured out that I needed the keys in order to get in the car and turn it on, I took them off the top of the roof, leaving my wallet behind. I sat in the car, car door open, waiting for my dad to make it to the car so we could all go to a diving area.

Once he made it to the car, without thinking, I closed the door and started the car. I had been driving about half a mile before I realized that my wallet was no longer on my body. Immediately, I pulled the car over, and the next hour or so was spent looking for my wallet. All I could think about was what I would lose if I didn't find my wallet. The week before was my birthday, and I was given RM60 to Best Buy and RM50 to Auto Zone. Aside from that I had RM3 in cash. While walking up and down the road that my wallet flew off on, my sister found my two Best Buy cards. That eased my mind a little. However, that was all we found of my dear wallet. My family and I gave up after wasting an hour of finding nothing. Losing my wallet made me depressed for the rest of the day. I could not believe I did something so stupid.

The next day, I received a call from my grandmother. She was contacted by the police officer of Police Department of Taman Alma, Bukit Mertajam, where I was during this fiasco. When she answered the phone, the police said "This is Deputy 'so-and-so' from the Police Department of Taman Alma, Bukit Mertajam. Do you know Kevindran ?" This startled my grandmother. The police officer then continued to explain to her that he had found my wallet, some two miles from the hotel in which I was staying. He left her information on how to contact him if she wished to retrieve my wallet. My grandmother called me and relayed that information. I got with the sheriff and recovered my wallet. That made my day, knowing that everything I had lost in my wallet was now returned to me, except for my three ringgit in cash, which didn't really matter to me at that time.

Since that single event, I have lost my wallet two other times, none as serious as before. I have also lost something sincere to me by putting it on top of the car. However, I was fortunate enough to get it back. The carelessness of my misplacing have taught me a lesson, simply think before I act. This is something everyone is taught numerous times. Only now, it is easier for me to apply that to my actions. If I follow that idea, I could avoid future problems like this, preventive caution. It took a scare like this for it to finally kick in to me.

Many languages are disappearing every year. Is this a bad thing, or could having fewer languages help bring people together?

It is better to have fewer languages since many languages are disappearing day by day. Language is an important method of transmitting knowledge. It is the primary mode of communication, which is used in order to give or receive knowledge. For the purpose of this essay, language will be defined as an agreed method of communication that is either spoken or written, or intentionally transmitted through body language. The statement means that perception, emotion and reason cannot function independently from language. Language plays an integral role in their ability to function. The statement suggests that without language, we would not be able to become aware of something using the senses, we would not be able to experience and express emotion, and we would not be able to reason.

In today’s global market there is big need to learn more than one language. Either you own a business or you do a job for someone, we still have to communicate with customer or client who may not our language. Thus, the world appears to be moving towards a smaller number of languages such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Hindi, each with millions or billions of speakers. Unfortunately this means that smaller languages are in danger of disappearing. Some people fear the loss of culture and identity, while others believe a world with easier communication would be a better place. In this essay, I will discuss the dangers of both outcomes.

We are indeed losing a lot of languages. First of all, the way that people think is to a certain degree rooted in their first languages. A community’s language is bound up with its way of life, culture, religious beliefs and identity. A second point is the loss of diversity different languages can contribute to different ways of looking at and solving human problems. Thirdly, fewer languages does not necessarily mean better communication because it could even mean a dangerous situation with billions of people fighting against each other, rather than smaller groups as in the past. This could be the most important drawback as more people speak one language, it becomes easier for billions to be influenced by shallow media or aggressive politicians.

However, there might be a lot to be gained from having fewer languages and greater communication. First of all is today’s practical problem of translation business is more difficult, travel is more complicated, and misunderstandings arise. Another current problem is marginalization communities who do not speak a major world language fall behind in science and technology and their economies suffer. Third, having fewer languages might mean more shared ideas. Global collaboration could happen instantly rather than taking years. And finally, although some people are afraid of the loss of culture or identity, it seems that good ideas can survive. We don’t speak Latin or classical Greek anymore, but the ideas and values of the people who spoke those languages are still with us.

In conclusion, it seems inevitable that some languages will disappear like animals or plants, they need a specific habitat and can be squeezed out by stronger competitors. The answer is not to hide and isolate ourselves but to be confident about our identity in whatever language we speak.

Bazaar ramadhan

Hi all.

As we all know, Ramadhan is very well-known with is variety of bazaars. The most common bazaar is food bazaar. All kinds of food sell during this fasting month with a variable of prices. Some stalls sell their food expensively and some don't. However, not all of it are tasty. We are lucky if we buy food with low prices but high in quality. Other than that, these foods are from variety of places. Some are from west, south and east of peninsular Malaysia, but few from Sabah and Sarawak. This is one of the advantages of the bazaar, which is we can choose what we want to eat and we have a lot choices.

Global Warming

Global warming is the continuing rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Global warming is caused by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, resulting from human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels. This finding is recognized by the national science academies of all the major industrialized countries and is not disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing.
Extreme weather events including heatwaves, droughts and heavy rainfall events, species extinctions. Warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe, though the nature of these regional changes is uncertain. Hence, the ecosystem services upon which human livelihoods depend would not be preserved.
The greenhouse effect is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by gases in the atmosphere warm a planet's lower atmosphere and surface. Human activity since the Industrial Revolution has increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It is expected that most ecosystems will be affected by higher atmospheric CO2 levels, combined with higher global temperatures. Overall, it is expected that climate change will result in the extinction of many species and reduced diversity of ecosystems.

Qualities of A Friend

What qualities do you look for when choosing a friend? There are many different qualities that describe a good friend. Everybody has different ideas on what they want and need in a friend. When I choose my friends I would like them to be honest, trustworthy, and dependable.
Honesty, to me is the most important quality to look for in a friend because if you have honesty it will bring many other great qualities along with it. Honesty is the foundation of a good friendship. Without honesty the friendship would fall apart. I once had a friend that constantly lied about everything, he would lie about things he said he had or things he did, it got to the point where he lied so much that I couldn't trust him anymore. Which brings to the next quality I look for in a friend, trust.
Trust, is another very important quality that I look for in a friend. Trust is important because in a friendship you should be able to trust one other, weather it comes to keeping secrets or promises. When you have a problem you need to talk about with your friend, you should be able to trust them not to go around talking about you. You should be able to trust your friends not to make false judgments about you because of how you look or dress. You should be able to depend on your friends to be your friend because of the kind of person you are.
Finally, dependability is the last quality I look for in a friend. This quality sums up the other two qualities I look for in a friend, honesty and trust. If you have honesty and trust then you get dependability along with them. Take honesty, if your friends are honest then you can depend on them to tell the truth about things you ask them or they will be honest with you and come to you when they have problems. Then take trust; if your friends are trustworthy then you can depend on them to not talking about you behind your back. Dependability is also important because you should be able to depend on your friends be around when you have problems and need to talk to someone.
In conclusion, the qualities I look for in a friend are honesty, trust and dependability. I think these qualities are important because, to me they are the foundation of every great friendship. I like to think that I am a perfect friend but, you are not going to find friends that are completely perfect. Friends might lie and hurt you at times but they make up if they are true friends. Everyone has a flaw but, if they try to stay honesty and loyal to you then that us close enough.

what is essay?

An Essay is a short written article which expresses the writer’s or author’s personal views on particular matter. It is a literary form of writing. Such author expresses his or her ideas, which are researched and with basis to the real world. Anyways, since yo will be starting to learn how to write essay, let as might as well discuss the structure of an essay.
The introduction in an essay is different from those ordinary articles and letters . At the beginning you should directly start on an stimulating topic which target the objective or the topic you want to discuss. State directly your stand on the matter providing strong supporting details on your stand.
The third and succeeding paragraph should contain the discourse about your objective why you stand that way and so on. Cite examples when necessary to clearly emphasize your idea and to make more comprehensible that even a layman can understand. Actually, it should be written in a layman’s term so as not to be misunderstood.
And for the conclusion, you can state again an specific teaser from the first paragraph relating to your main objective. Or, you can cite comparisons giving emphasis that your idea is the best option based on what had been disclosed over the previous paragraphs.
It sound hard, but is not. Anyone can learn how to write an informative essay. You only need to read other’s essays and study their structures why such an author came up on how he or she discloses the idea presented.

Love

What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies.
Love is a beautiful feeling that express honesty, affection and at the same time friendship. The feeling love could be the key of solution for many problems. Love is a universal feeling or emotion and every human on this earth loves someone. It is not necessary that love exists only between opposite sexes but love is there between human kind, between brothers, between sisters, between brothers and sisters, between parents and children, between husband and wife, between neighbours, between nations, between all relations and love also exists between humans and other living beings such as animals. Therefore, nobody can deny the existence of love in this world.
There are so many levels to love; these are the ones we see most in life. Friendship starts this list off as we do feel love towards our friends, this is what helps us get along so well, and why we miss them when we don't see our friends for a long time. It's also why we hold certain friends over others no matter what happens.
Another level of love, are for our siblings and other family members. Even though we do things to our family members, and sometimes we don't like some of our family, that bond is still there. It's this family bond level of love that brought about the phrase, blood is thicker than water. Many wars have been started because of this family level, brother avenging brother or father, father protecting his wife and children, or even vice versa. This simple family bond can even extend to include our pets, amazingly enough, and that is a good thing. A third level to love is the bond that brings man and woman together. This level is among the strongest of them all. It is this level of love that has brought together kingdoms into nations in the past, and ended many great wars. It's is also for the love of a woman that has started a few of our well-known wars, like the Trojan Wars of ancient times. It's brought together families that have argued for years and years, such as in the Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even though the two mentioned killed themselves in the end, it still brought their families together. The last mentionable level of love is that bond between a mother and her children. There is no stronger, nor will there ever be. This bond starts from the very first tiny fluttering of movement and never ends, even after death of the child. A mother protects her children in the name of love, and directs them through life using it as the example to follow. Well, at least it should be. It's because of her children a mother will work at a job she hates, just to make sure they have everything they could ever want or need. In conclusion, love is answer for most of the world question. It is a necessary feeling in life because it is wonderful and magic. Also, it holds people together in way to help and care about each other’s. There is so much to love, that it will be hard to put into this simple essay. It can tear people apart and make us do irrational things to bringing together entire nations. What can this emotion not do? It's hard to tell, but there is a lot it can. This emotion, bring tears to our eyes when something happens to our family members, friends, and pets. When we feel love ripped from us, as in death or being spurned by another, we do things we wouldn't normally do, such as go on violent rampages, or mourn to the extent that our loved ones have to watch us constantly to make sure we don't try anything like suicide. Some can move on, always remembering the lost loved one after a while, but others cannot let go. These are the ones that need our love and support the most.

CHARATERISTICS IN A TRUE FRIEND…..

We all need other people to live as a human. Firstly we need our family and friends. Sometimes our friends are more important than our family. A friend is a person with whom we spend most of our time. It is very important to spend enjoyable with them. The time we spend with our friends is precious and shouldn’t be wasted. And also while we cannot choose our family, we can choose our friends. But how do we do this selection? What are those caracteristics that make a person a good friend?

In my opinion, a good friend should be reliable, loyal and he or she should have common interests with the one who is his or her friend. Trustfulness is fundamental in any relationship, including friendship. Unless we can rely on a person, we will not consider him or her as a friend. For example i do not want to be in doubt about what my friend said whether it is true or not. Telling lies is a kind of thing that makes a friendship over. What is more when i tell my friend something important or secret, i want to be sure that he will not tell anybody.
On the other hand loyalty is significant characteristic that a good friend should have as well. We need friends not only when we happy but also when we upset. A good friend be with you when you fail on an exam, when you lost a relative, when you run out of money, in any case. Furthermore when you move to another place he or she tries to keep in touch with you.
Having common interests is something that makes friendship permanent. Maybe this is the reason you become friends. You may not share anything with the person who does not have any common interests with you. You probably would not have fun with a friend who does not have common interests with you as you would not find anything to talk to them with.
Sense of humor is a very important characteristic that a friend should have. If one doesn’t have a sense of humor, then he or she would’t care about other people’s feelings and behaves very badly, thinking only of himself. If one has a sense of humor, than he or she will be there whenever you are in need of them and he or she will do everything he can to cheer you up for an instance. Sense of humor will bring other characteristics such as being helpful, thinking of other people in them.

A good listener is also an important characteristic to find in a friend. A good friend is at least a fairly good listener and notices how little, day-to-day things affect you. They can't read your mind, but chances are they can usually tell when you're happy, sad, excited, shocked or upset. If they're aware that they're doing something that annoys you, they try to change their ways or at least talk to you about it. Indirectly, they will do their very best to make you happy.

To sum up, life is easier and more enjoyable to live with good friends. In friendship, being accepting goes hand in hand with being loyal. A true friend rolls with the punches as you grow and change and know how to deal with your quirks and faults. They are also patient with you when you make mistakes even big ones and learn how to forgive you when you hurt them. In other words, they treat you as you'd like to be treated, even when you aren't at your best. Just as what Albert Camus said “Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow. Do not walk behind me, I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”

Causes if Obesity in Teens

Obesity in teens is accounted when these young people have over 10% extra pounds than the recommended or standard weight as per the height. Such obesity occurs only when the overall energy ingestion exceeds the total energy spent, which is done at the time of physical exercise. over 25% school going teens are obese of which 1/4th are highly vulnerable to the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and frighteningly even premature death. Above all, the worst part of the reality is that teenagers between 10 to 13 ages are 80% prone to be obese adults. After reading these frightening facts, it becomes necessary to control teen obesity. The first step in this direction is to identify the possible causes of obesity in teens.
The first and most important cause is poor eating habits. These habits normally develop because of an imbalance diet, over cooking food, or addiction with the outside food. Further, even if none of the parents has time to cook food at home, the teen has no option but to switch to the junk food. Junk food or fast food is one of those poor eating habits, which is held responsible for fat accumulation in a majority of teens worldwide. It is a common tendency of teens to love such food, but it is not at all healthy. Those high-fat dressings, cheese, butter, non-vegetarian items are all fatty items.
Stress is also one of the main causes of obesity in teens. How? By triggering overeating. The recent time is such that teenagers have to face a lot of peer pressure at school. Further, events such as divorce, abuse, or a close one’s death can add to the fire. In order to reduce the stress, several teens get inclined to overeating. The worst effect of stress is depression. In fact, it is a vicious circle: stress – obesity – depression – more stress. It is found that a big percentage of obese teens are clinically depressed.
The final killer cause is lack of exercise. This needs a special mention in our list of causes of obesity in teens. In this era of technology, where everything needs to be done at a fast speed, all hand works are replaced by machines. Further, the desk-bound life such as sitting in front of computers and video games deprive the teens to keep their body active. With little or no exercise done, the fats are surely going to get accumulated leading to obesity. Walking is taken up by a car, while washing clothes is taken by the washing machine. Do you know our ancestors hardly faced any problems of diseases related to obesity? Why? This is because they used to do all the chores with their hands and legs, not with the machines!

One Man Band

Based on the film, The One Man Band, the theme is clearly about competition in life. This is portrayed by the competiveness of two talented musicians. With all their might, they played different genres of music to defeat each other. Both of them played their instruments boastfully to see who was better and who would get the penny from a little girl. A very tight competition was shown in this story. Besides that, revenge is also portrayed as a theme in this story. It was shown by the little girl who was scared by two talented musicians. Both of them caused the poor girl's coin to fell into the drain. She was very unhappy and she sought for revenge. Those two musicians gave her a violin and she started playing it. When she played it well, an anonymous passer-by left a bag of coins for her. When both men ask for coins, the little girl teased them by offering a few coins but eventually threw those coins into a fountain and never gave them any. This show the little girl had her revenge.

Butterflies

There was a time in my life when beauty meant something special to me. I guess that would have been when I was about six or seven years old, just several weeks or maybe a month before the orphanage turned me into an old man.

I would get up every morning at the orphanage, make my bed just like the little soldier that I had become and then I would get into one of the two straight lines and march to breakfast with the other twenty or thirty boys who also lived in my dormitory.

After breakfast one Saturday morning I returned to the dormitory and saw the house parent chasing the beautiful monarch butterflies who lived by the hundreds in the azalea bushes strewn around the orphanage.

I carefully watched as he caught these beautiful creatures, one after the other, and then took them from the net and then stuck straight pins through their head and wings, pinning them onto a heavy cardboard sheet.

How cruel it was to kill something of such beauty. I had walked many times out into the bushes, all by myself, just so the butterflies could land on my head, face and hands so I could look at them up close.

When the telephone rang the house parent laid the large cardboard paper down on the back cement step and went inside to answer the phone. I walked up to the cardboard and looked at the one butterfly who he had just pinned to the large paper. It was still moving about so I reached down and touched it on the wing causing one of the pins to fall out. It started flying around and around trying to get away but it was still pinned by the one wing with the other straight pin. Finally it's wing broke off and the butterfly fell to the ground and just quivered.

I picked up the torn wing and the butterfly and I spat on it's wing and tried to get it to stick back on so it could fly away and be free before the house parent came back. But it would not stay on him.

The next thing I knew the house parent came walking back out of the back door by the garbage room and started yelling at me. I told him that I did not do anything but he did not believe me. He picked up the cardboard paper and started hitting me on the top of the head. There were all kinds of butterfly pieces going everywhere. He threw the cardboard down on the ground and told me to pick it up and put it in the garbage can inside the back room of the dormitory and then he left.

I sat there in the dirt, by that big old tree, for the longest time trying to fit all the butterfly pieces back together so I could bury them whole, but it was too hard to do. So I prayed for them and then I put them in an old torn up shoe box and I buried them in the bottom of the fort that I had built in the ground, out by the large bamboos, near the blackberry bushes.

Every year when the butterflies would return to the orphanage and try to land on me I would try and shoo them away because they did not know that the orphanage was a bad place to live and a very bad place to die.

However, we realize However, we realize

My moment of anxiety.

It’s psychologically proven that more than half of the population on Earth does not like examinations, tests, and quizzes. Me? Hell no! I dislike exams! Here’s why.

Few months back, in 23 March 2011, SPM results day. It was dooms day for many hopeless students, like me. That morning, I felt so unprepared to receive my SPM slip. I was nervous. Too nervous, I started panicking in my room. I had no idea what my results would look like. Bits and pieces of old memories came back to me. Language papers were normal. Math & science papers were hard but not too hard that I couldn’t handle. Moral & History papers were the killers. I hate these two subjects. Without studying them, I had to crap throughout those papers. True story. I knew I badly screwed up those papers. I could feel the presence of fear in me.

A knock came by my room. It was my mother. Knowing that she would start her crap in front of me, I dared not to open the door. I couldn’t face my mother at all. In fact, my mother’s voice was already all over my head. Her nagging voice kept repeating in my head like a spoiled MP3 player stuck on replay. However that morning was different, all she said was “Be happy for whatever you will get. Everything will be fine”. I was surprised. And there she went away. Those words made me calm and felt better. That’s why people say that mothers have the natural ability to calm their children.

Eventually I went back to school. The hall was full with ex-form 5 students. After months being separated from my friends, memories of school life gave me a nostalgic vibe. There was so much to catch up with my classmates, teachers and everyone. Everyone was chatting cheerfully together in their most comfortable way. Then soon, it was 11 in the morning. Everyone had to line up according to their respective classes.

Finally, the moment of truth was just seconds away. The fear was still filling me up like crazy. My heart was pumping like it was above 130 bpm. Sweat won’t stop trickling down from the back of my spine. Waiting in line, I could see some of my friends who already got their slips. There were sad faces, disappointed faces, satisfied faces, happy faces and masked faces from those who did not want to show their true emotions. It was my turn. My Hands and legs were trembling uncontrollably. Heavy-heartedly, I reach out both my hands to my class teacher to receive my results slip. After receiving it, I tucked it into my bag and quickly walked away. Thanks to my mother’s encouragement, I put myself together and pulled the slip out and took a look. There was a B+. It was a total disappointment. My heart finally calm down. Thank God. Anxiety was over. I was disappointed and sad but life must continue

Dear Girl,

Oh my, it has been a long time since we last met. Yes, I am fine, thank you. It was surprising to receive a letter from you after all those years. I am glad to hear from a long lost friend. A lot has changed. High school memories? I can never forget them because it was the time of my life with you and friends I treasured.

Do you remember we started off as strangers? We played the ‘Question Game’ and got to know each other. That was the first piece of my memory of you. You were a fun and happy-go-lucky girl that I fell for. You always smiled whenever I cracked jokes to you, even those bad ones. It was your beautiful smile that enabled me to sleep well and get through those nights. There were more to that like our first date, first kiss, long talks every night. It was only your father in the way, or else I would be by your side now because you were my first crush. Letting you go was really hard, it left a scar in my heart.

As you know, life must go on. I am now married to an astonishing beautiful wife. I am blessed with two pretty girls. I promise God that my family’s health comes first, followed by happiness and finally financing. I am really grateful for what I have and I shall not ruin it.

So enough about my side, what about you? Do you remember your dreams and passions you once told me? You were very passionate to become an accountant. Not just any accountant of course, you wanted to be one of the top successful accountants in the world! I am confident that you can pursue it. Besides that have you found your other half, knight in shining armor? Family and children? I must say parenting is hard, but you should give it a try.

Let’s keep in touch. Call me up any time and we will chat over a meal or a cup of tea. There is so much to catch up with.

Yours sincerely,

Eugene

HEALTH AND HEALING AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Throw out the bottles and boxes of drugs in your house. A new theory suggests that medicine could be bad for your health, which should at least come as good news to people who can'r afford to buy expensive medicine. However, it is a blow to the medicine industry, and even bigger blow to our confidence in the progress of science. this new theory argues that healing is at our fingertips. We can be healthy by doing Reiki on a regular basis.

Supporters of medical treatment argue that medicine should be trusted since it is effeective and scientifically prove. They say that there is no need for spiritual methods such as Reiki, Yoga, and Tai Chi. These waste our time, something that is quite precious in our material world. There is medicine that can kill our pain, x-rays that shows oour fractured bones and MRI that scans our brain for tumors. We must admit that these methods are very effective in the examples that they provide. However, there are some " everyday complaints" such as backpains, headache, insomnia, which are treated currently with medicine. When you have headache, you take Aspirin or Pananol. When you can't sleep, you take sleeping pills without thinking about the side effects. When you use these pills for a long period of time, you become addicted to them. In fact, you can't even sleep without them. We pay huge amount of money and become addicted instead of getting better. How about a safer and more economical way of healing? When doing Reiki to yourself, you do not need anything except your energy so it is very economical. As for its history, it was discovered in Japan in the early 1900s and its popularity has spread particularly throughout America and Western Europe. In quantum physics, energy is recognized as the fundamental substance of which the universe is composed. Reiki depends on the energy within our bodies. It is a simple and effective way of restoring the energy flow. There are no side effects and it is scientifically explained.

Opponents of alternative healing methods also claim that serious illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and cancer cannot be treated without drugs. They think so because these patients spend the rest of their lives in the hospital taking medicine. How can Reiki make these people healthy again? It is very unfortunate that these patients have to live in the hospital losing their hair because of chemotherapy, losing weight because of the side effects of the medicine they take. Actually, it is common knowledge that except for when the cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, drugs also cannot treat AIDS or cancer. Most of the medicine these patients use are to ease their pain and their sufferings because of the medical treatment they undergo. Instead of drugs which are expensive and have many side effects, you can use your energy to overcome the hardships of life, find an emotional balance, leave the stress of everyday life and let go of the everyday worries. Most of the chronic conditions such as eczema or migraine are known to have causes such as poor diet and stress. Deep-rooted anger or other strong emotions can contribute to viral infections as well. Since balancing our emotions and controlling our thoughts are very important for our well-being, we should definitely start learning Reiki and avoid illnesses before it is too late.

Some people may still maintain that in our material world, everything depends on time. It is even “lacking time” that causes much of the stress that leads to the illnesses we mentioned. How would it be possible to find time to do Reiki to ourselves and the people around us when we cannot even find time to go to the theater? This is one good thing about Reiki; it does not require more than 15 minutes of our time. There is no need for changing clothes or special equipment. It is a wonderfully simple healing art, an effective method of relaxation and stress-relief. Most important of all, it is less time consuming than medicine if we think of all the time we spend taking medicine for some complaints and taking some more for the side effects as well.

Having said these, resistance to Reiki would be quite illogical. Reiki is natural and drug-free. What is more, it is easy to learn by anyone, regardless of age and experience. It can be used anywhere, anytime. It also enhances physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and the benefits last a lifetime. It is definitely high time to get away from the drug boxes we store in our drug cabinet!

Nuclear Disarment

“We have the power to build a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. I call on all humanity to support this sensible and achievable goal. Let us each do our part in this common journey – and thereby ensure that there will be no more victims such as those we honor today”. This is how the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, ended his speech on the last Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony. Since the end of the Second World War people know and fear the nuclear power and the atomic warheads. Many organizations like The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Campaign against Nuclear Energy, Global Zero and Greenpeace constantly urge countries to follow an environmental and secure policy but, unfortunately global governments are suffering from “mass amnesia” when it comes to disposal nuclear weapons.

The nuclear power is a threat to humanity in every possible way because nuclear elements cannot be stabilized, the radiation they emit is lethal and because it can be used as a weapon of mass destruction. Nuclear materials used in the production of energy such as uranium and plutonium are highly unstable and the current human level of technology is not able to detain a catastrophe. The International Atomic Energy Agency states that all nuclear power plants are fail-safe but history has taught us differently. An example for this is the Chernobyl disaster which happened nearly 24 years ago and people still suffer the consequences of it, not only in the Ukraine but in the neighboring countries too.

There are many other examples of near catastrophes because of old parts of reactors or corrosion or of inappropriate storing of nuclear waste which, according to the above mentioned agency, needs up to a few billion years to disintegrate. Furthermore, not only are nuclear power plants and nuclear stations not fully able to prevent a possible tragedy but, most of them are not resistible to earthquakes and other natural catastrophes. This is why in Japan in the last few years many nuclear reactors were shut down by the Japanese government. Extreme exposure of radioactivity released by nuclear elements is harmful to living cells and causes a myriad of illnesses which in most cases end deadly. This is the case in the surrounding of Chernobyl where there are still birth defects caused by damage done to the reproductive organs or little children who at an early age get cancer or tumor because one of their parents was exposed to radiation. And the Chernobyl disaster is not the only time when humans were exposed to a large amount of radiation. In 1979, a core meltdown happened in Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania, in the early morning hours and an amount of radioactive gasses far greater than allowed, escaped. Over 140 000 people from the surrounding of the nuclear reactor were evacuated in only five days. Luckily, no one was exposed for a long time to the radioactivity so, a greater catastrophe was avoided but, still the simple possibility that something bigger could have happened is shocking. The greatest threat to humanity, presented by nuclear elements, is the atomic bomb which can be used as a weapon of mass destruction. In the history of the humankind, the atomic bomb has been used only once, to end the Second World War. Nearly 65years ago the US Army fired two nuclear warheads on the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The consequences were devastating. Thousands of people died, and even more got the radioactive sickness which causes disintegration of the human cells, then organ failure and finally a painful death.

Nowadays, there is a new danger facing the civilian folk of many countries, which is called nuclear terrorism. Since the end of the Second World War, governments are troubled with the possibility of a terrorist attack with nuclear missiles or even “dirty bombs”, which are pretty easily made, by attaching a radioactive material to an explosive. If all of the above mentioned is taken into consideration, one can conclude that everything nuclear material has brought to the people of this planet is pain and grief and disposal of the material should be pondered. Each of the few good means for which nuclear materials are used, can be replaced by an alternative mean.

Arranged Marriage Versus Love Marriage

Believe it or not there are two types of marriage, the so-called love marriage and the arranged marriage.

Most people today don’t agree with arranged marriages but there are some people who have no say in the matter. Although the arranged marriage is not as desirable as the love marriage it does have its advantages. Relationships are the most important things in life. And marriage is one of the most important relationships. Having said that, it becomes even more important who arranges the marriage, whether its ourselves or someone else like our parents or friends. The issue has taken the place of an important social problem. Different people have different opinions coming from different age groups from the different parts of the world.

Marriage as we can see is a commitment of spending the rest of our life with someone. This has a great impact on our life, career and personality. So, should we let our parents decide so much for us? To start with, it can be answered positively. They are more experienced and well-placed in the society. They understand people better and thus, understand us better than we do sometimes. Moreover, being our parents, they want the best for us all the time. Arranged marriages are a convenient way of getting married, the pressure for finding a partner is shared by the family and the chances of being left on the shelf are less likely. Also arranged marriages are often better planned marriages and tend to be planned many years in advance.

Parents start saving for their children’s wedding day from almost the time when the child is born. The tradition of having an arranged marriage keeps the family happy. It is often the dream of most parents to see their child married off to a respectable family, ideally in a respectable fashion. They also provide stability for both parties and they have a lower divorce rate, but I think this is due to the fact that the family would not approve of divorce. It may seem to be as simple but in reality it is not. The choice of our life partner should have our say in it. Of course! How can we marry someone who we don't know? Is it possible to stay along with the person and share everything that we have in our life?

From this point of view it may not look sensible at all. Considering that all of us has the right to decide for ourselves once we are grown up and matured, the right of the choosing our life partner should be given to us and no one else unless of course we forfeit it to someone else. Coming back to the arguments, we can see around us and observe how many 'love marriages' have been successful? In some parts of the world they stay in but unfortunately in many other places the fail to develop into life-long relationships.

The mostly young couples complain of misunderstandings, concealed truths about each other and making a 'hurried and emotional decision', which they regret. Most of them mentally suffer because of this and their performance goes down. They go on, to face social and psycho logical problems and life-long in some cases. The only lesson that can be taken from these cases is not to repeat their mistakes.

We have to try to rely on our parents' goodwill and wisdom. We have to let our parents arrange our marriages.

dO WE NEED SO MANY LANGUAGES??

Many languages are disappearing every year. Is this a bad thing, or could having fewer languages help bring people together?

The world appears to be moving towards a smaller number of languages such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Hindi, each with millions or billions of speakers. Unfortunately this means that smaller languages are in danger of disappearing. Some people fear the loss of culture and identity, while others believe a world with easier communication would be a better place. In this essay, I will discuss the dangers of both outcomes.

We are indeed losing a lot of languages. One language expert estimates that 60%-80% of all languages will disappear in 100 years, just three generations from now. This is a major loss. First of all, the way that people think is to a certain degree rooted in their first languages. A community’s language is bound up with its way of life, culture, religious beliefs and identity. A second point is the loss of diversity: different languages can contribute to different ways of looking at and solving human problems. Thirdly, fewer languages does not necessarily mean better communication: it could even mean a dangerous situation with billions of people fighting against each other, rather than smaller groups as in the past. This could be the most important drawback: as more people speak one language, it becomes easier for billions to be influenced by shallow media or aggressive politicians.

However, there might be a lot to be gained from having fewer languages and greater communication. First of all is today’s practical problem of translation: business is more difficult, travel is more complicated, and misunderstandings arise. Another current problem is marginalization: communities who do not speak a major world language fall behind in science and technology and their economies suffer.

In conclusion, it seems inevitable that some languages will disappear: like animals or plants, they need a specific habitat and can be squeezed out by stronger competitors. The answer is not to hide and isolate ourselves but to be confident about our identity in whatever language we speak

TRANSSEXUAL MARRIAGE...

Government lawyers have told a Hong Kong court that the legislature, not the courts, should decide if a transsexual can marry her boyfriend in the first such legal case in the Chinese city.
The male-to-female transsexual, who is in her 20s and known only as "W" under anonymity rules, took the government to court over a law that she alleged violated her constitutional right to marry her boyfriend.
But the city's Registrar of Marriages ruled last year that she could not marry her boyfriend because her birth certificate -- which could not be changed under Hong Kong law -- says that she is still a man.
The woman, who is among a small number of people who have undergone sex change surgery in Hong Kong, had the gender reflected on her identity card.

The Marriage Ordinance says marriage can only be a union between a man and a woman.
Monica Carss-Frisk, barrister for the government, on Tuesday said the existing law did not accommodate transgender marriage.
"If there is a desire to change attitude, then the legislature can seek to do that," she told the Court of First Instance.
"What the court is doing here is to simply look at what the law is at the moment."
Carss-Frisk warned that any judicial attempt to broaden or re-interpret the legal definition of "man" and "woman" would create uncertainties in the law.
Citing cases from other common law jurisdictions including England, Australia, and the US, the lawyer said some courts held different views on whether transsexuals should only win the right to marry after their operation.
Carss-Frisk added that changing the current legislation could have a far-reaching impact on laws surrounding succession and domestic violence, and evidence rules, which prohibit the spouse of a defendant from being compelled to give evidence under certain circumstances.
Traditionally, Asian societies have lagged Western nations' attitudes toward homosexuals and transgendered people.
But mainland China, Singapore,Malaysia and Japan allow transsexual people to marry the opposite sex in their new gender.
It’s become one of the most prominent acts of civil disobedience in recent times. San Francisco’s mayor this month ordered city officials to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Thousands flocked to city hall to get married.
Most people view this as the first time in U.S. history that same-sex couples could enjoy the same legal rights as a married man and woman. But for some time now, hundreds of same-sex couples across the country have been living as married couples under the law. They are couples who married as man and woman and later, one spouse underwent a gender change.

Speak with one of those couples: Cindy and Miriam Huebscher-Scott. They are a married couple from the midwest. They married as husband and wife, then Roger became Cindy and Miriam chose to stay with him. They are the founders of an internet support group for the spouses and partners of transsexuals.

Large City

A city is a relatively large and permanent settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town within general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law. For example, an article of incorporation approved by the local state legislature distinguishes a city government from a town in Massachusetts. In the United Kingdom and parts of the Commonwealth of Nations, a city is traditionally a settlement with a royal charter.[1] Historically, in Europe, a city was understood to be an urban settlement with a cathedral. Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process. A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers of employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In my opinion living I would prefer to live on a large city.

Firstly, there is a wide working opportunity in a large city like Kuala Lumpur. As Kuala Lumpur is the heart of Malaysia or the capital of Malaysia there is a wide range of working opportunity. The city is also the heart of economy of the country. These features in the large city enable me to get a variety of jobs. The salary paid for an employee in a large city is higher compared to another employee in other regions. The workload is both employees is the same but the one working the large city earns more. In a large city I can gain more knowledge and experience regarding my work as many training regarding the job is given to me to improve my skills. All these experience enables me to get a promotion faster compared to others working in other region. This is also possible as many high ranked employees in the town like to move to different sectors or region due to promotion and work transfer. This situation leaves a vacant position which enables the lower ranked employees to fill up the vacant.

Besides that, a large city is also a center of education. In Kuala Lumpur itself, there are 13 tertiary education institutions, 79 high schools, 155 elementary schools and 136 kindergartens. This amazing feature enables me to increase my knowledge. I can enroll myself in one of the universities available in that location. University of Malaya which is one of the best universities available in Malaysia is located in a large city. Established in 1962, it is the oldest university in Malaysia, and one of the oldest in the region. It is also the most prestigious tertiary institution in Malaysia, having been ranked first among the universities in Malaysia in the 2004 Times Higher Education (THES) international rankings. If I were to live anywhere else I would miss the opportunity to gain knowledge from such a great higher institute. If I have kids in the future a large city is the best choice to live as my children could study in a good school. For an example, Victoria Institution , Methodist Girls' School ,Methodist Boys' School ,Convent Bukit Nanas and St. John's Institutionare among the notable and high performing school in Malaysia. I would prefer my children to have a bright future by sending them to these high performing schools. They could also gain a lot of knowledge by joining these schools as good teachers and the modern features are available in these schools.

Moreover, it is easy to move around the city as there is a good transportation system. I can travel to work in a public transportation such as pubic bus or a monorail to avoid traffic. I can also travel around the city in a quicker and safer manner. If I want to take a flight to a foreign country, the city is nearer to an international airport and there is a wide variety of public transport to reach the airport. Most international flight routes are only available in large city. For an example, Senai International airport has a less variety of flight destination compared to The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). There are also many alternative route available to travel to a single destination which allows me to choose the best route available and free the route free of traffic. The road system in a town is better compared to other region. This enables a person to travel faster and safer to his or her desired destination.

Besides, there is a wide variety of shopping complex and entertainment in the city which enables me to get something easier. Most of the latest application or gadgets are only available in major cities before other region it is available in other region. It is also easier to get any products or accessories in a large city as there are many different shopping complex and retail available. Most of the fashion clothing is also able in the large city. This enables me to up to date on the current fashion and not getting outdated. I can also release my work stress in an entertainment outlet which is mostly available in at major cities. It is also easy fix up any problem or repairs such as car repair as there are many mechanic shops available in a large city. I can also get a wide variety of design of a single item such as laptops as there are many shops selling the same item but different design, features and price. Hence, I can choose for the best among the best items available according to my taste.

The conclusion is, living in a large city is better compared to living in other part or region. There are a lot of facilities available in a city which is useful for a person. If I were to life in a village or a small city I will miss all these facilities and could not grow myself for a better future. Living in a large city also ensures that my children and my future generations gets a better future. In my opinion living in a large city is the best.
