Is competition good?

Competition have been a part of our society since the race of mankind was first discovered. Competition is well known as the act of competing against two parties over an issue or problem. It is a common activity in our society in the 21st century. Competition can happen everywhere without considering when, where, how or why. It will arise whenever two or more parties fight to strive for a goal that cannot be shared between one another. This goal we are addressing can be anything such as money, power, land, beauty, pride and the list just never comes to an end.Over the years the question should competition be practised in our society have been debated heavily. After all, as all cycles in life competition have it's best and worst to offer. But the question is is competition good? Is it necessary in our life? Does it bring more benefits than harm?

"Competition is the bridge to progress". Dear readers as illustrated in the saying before this without competition there will be no room for progression. When there is no competition, it will be impossible to identify the mistakes and we may not know where we stand if we do not have competitors. If there we no competition man would not have discovered their capabilities and strive for excellence and progress. Without competition man would not have set and break records. Man would not had came up with new invention that can change human life forever. People tend to learn from their mistakes and the only time people make mistake is when they are competing. A prefect example to support my statement would be the example of the nations in this earth. Every nation are fighting hard to be better than the other. Although some nations such as England, France, USA, China and Germany have always won the battle to development but still countries like Malaysia, India, Argentina and many more are always trying to match these power houses. But one thing for sure, this race to development have resulted in the improvement and betterment of countries who were once considered to be poor and undeveloped. For instance, Japan, Brazil, Thailand and many more.If you're not making mistakes, you're not taking risks, and that means you're not going anywhere. The key is to make mistakes faster than the competition, so you have more changes to learn and win.

Apart from that, competitions makes it easier for us to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves in life. Everyone has their respective dreams and goals to be achieved in life. "I'm not in competition with anybody but myself. My goal is to beat my last performance." To realize our dreams, competition plays a huge role whereby encouraging us to work harder towards what we aim to achieve. When we are surrounded by competitions we will always try hard not to be left behind or defeated by others. For example, in the corporate world every corporates have their vision and targets at the begin of the year and along the year they try hard to achieve the standards set by themselves. The standing and the ability of a company can only be measured by its achievement and goal achievement. To make things easier, we can take an example of the famous sports athlete Roger Federer. Roger is no stranger to the tennis world. His achievement in tennis is outstanding and he holds the record for the most grand slam won by a man. His secrets were simple whereby he lists his goals for the year and compete to achieve it. Although sometimes he might end up not fulfilling his goal but a thing for sure is that everytime he competes he prepare himself to live up to his goal and dream of becoming the greatest tennis player ever.

In a nutshell,Diane Sawyer have quoted that "Competition is easier to accept if you realize it is not an act of oppression or abrasion- I've worked with my best friends in direct competition". Therefore, there is no longer doubt that competition is only for the betterment of mankind and posses no more than benefits. We can't imagine a world without competition even for a glimpse of second because when everyone are equal in the sight of others there will be no motive for god's creation of us.
